In this collection we celebrate California’s coast with four cheeses that draw inspiration from the rolling hills, salty breeze, and rugged shoreline we treasure so much.
Nicasio Reserve Nicasio Valley Cheese Company • Nicasio, CA With organic milk from their herd of 400 cows, the five Lafranchi siblings opened one of a growing number of small farmstead creameries in the area and began producing their own Nicasio Valley cheeses. Nicasio Reserve is a classic Swiss-Italian mountain cheese that is aged at least 5 months. The cheese is firm and has a fruity aroma with eyes dotted throughout the dense, smooth paste. The flavor is rich and refined with notes of hazelnuts, grass.
Ragged Point Stepladder Creamery • Cambria, CA Located on the central coast of California, Stepladder Ranch was founded in 1871 and has been family-owned and operated for three generations. Named for the gateway to Big Sur, Ragged Point is a bloomy-rinded triple crème cow’s milk cheese. Although a distinct cream line forms as the cheese matures, the interior paste stays firm. The cheese takes on flavors of mushroom and pepper, making it the perfect foil for apples and honey.
Sgt. Pepper Cypress Grove • Arcata, CA Part of the Flashback Chèvre collection, a secret combination of four peppers and exotic spices create a complex flavor with a bit of a kick. It has a lovely salmon pink color flecked with bits of peppers. Sit back and let the evening go with this delicious spicy cheese that is a great topping for a burger or pasta.
Purple Haze Cypress Grove • Arcata, CA Purple Haze is Cypress Grove's lush and fluffy chevre, sprinkled with tender purple buds of lavender and fennel pollen. The lavender and fennel pollen add an ethereal quality to the already rich goat cheese; floral and piquant, Purple Haze tastes like spring air after a long rain.
Artisan Crisps Rustic Bakery • Petaluma, CA Rustic Bakery provides these sweet and crunchy crisps made with simple, high-quality ingredients--a fabulous accompaniment to artisan cheese.
