Hopping Into Spring

We're welcoming spring and with it abundant rains that transform the Northern California landscape. Green pastures, luscious rolling hills, and full reservoirs are a sign of great milk and cheese ahead for everyone! It's only fitting to celebrate the season of new beginnings with our newest cheese, Hop Along. This cider washed cheese has a silky mouthfeel that melts easily on the tongue (as well as on a baguette) and pairs beautifully with spring fruits and the Apricot Almond Jam from We Love Jam.

Hop Along
Cowgirl Creamery • Petaluma, CA
Cowgirl Creamery’s newest cheese is Hop Along, a rich, semi-firm organic cow’s milk cheese washed with organic cider and aged 45 days, similar to cheeses made centuries ago by Trappist monks. The nose is yeasty and sweet, reminiscent of an apple orchard, and the paste is pudgy with a silky mouthfeel that melts easily on the tongue. Hop Along offers bright acidity and flavors of sweet cream and green apple with a distinct savory note toward the rind.

Mt Tam

As a respectful nod to the majestic beauty of Mt Tamalpais, located a few miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County, Cowgirl Creamery named its signature cheese Mt Tam. Creamy and elegant, Mt Tam coats your tongue with a rich, buttery flavor that carries an earthy hint of white mushrooms. The triple-cream Mt Tam is made from unblended, organic, single-herd milk from Straus Family Creamery.

San Andreas
Bellwether Farms • Valley Ford, CA
Close enough to catch the tang and cooling fog of the Pacific Ocean, Bellwether Farms makes an array of fresh and aged Italian-style sheep and cow’s milk cheeses. San Andreas is named for the famous and active California fault that runs past the Bellwether property. Made with raw sheep milk and styled after a Tuscan pecorino, this cheese is smooth, creamy, and mild with a refreshingly sour finish.

Apricot Almond Jam
We Love Jam • San Francisco, CA
This jam was inspired by the owner’s favorite dessert: apricot galette with frangipane. Almonds and apricots pair so well together and with these cheeses. Their famous apricot jam is cooked with a small amount of their own almond paste made from organic, California raw almonds. The final product is a truely exquisite jam unlike anything you have ever tasted.
