The Anniversary Collection
To celebrate our 20 years of cheesemaking we chose to highlight some iconic producers and cheeses that have been a part of the journey. We are featuring the beautiful Humboldt Fog from our friends at Cypress Grove, one of the pioneers of goat milk cheese in the country. The delectable, award-winning Toma from our neighbors at the Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company who have helped spread the acclaim for cheesemaking in West Marin. And, of course, our Mt Tam: our signature, crowd-pleaser that put our company on the map so many moons ago. We include the perfect Rustic cracker and marvel at how delicious these years have been.
Mt. Tam Cowgirl Creamery • Petaluma, CA As a respectful nod to the majestic beauty of Mt Tamalpais, located a few miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County, Cowgirl Creamery named its signature cheese Mt Tam. Creamy and elegant, Mt Tam coats your tongue with a rich, buttery flavor that carries an earthy hint of white mushrooms. The triple-cream Mt Tam is made from unblended, organic, single-herd milk from Straus Family Dairy.
Humboldt Fog Mini Cypress Grove • Arcata, CA Humboldt Fog is Cypress Grove’s signature goat cheese. Elegant and luscious, this three-week old cheese pays homage to classic French Morbier by running a thin line of grey vegetable ash through its creamy, white center. As Humboldt Fog ages, its subtle tanginess grows more pronounced and a runny edge of thick and delicious ooze begins to develop under the rind and drift to the center of the cheese.
Toma Pt. Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company • Point Reyes, CA The Giacomini family launched Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company in 2000, using thieir own milk from thier herd of Holstein cows to make their cheeses. In Italian, Toma means “wheel of cheese made by the farmer himself.” Point Reyes Toma is an all-natural, pasteurized, semi-hard table cheese with a natural rind. Perfect for snacking or melting into a grilled cheese sandwich, Toma is reminiscent of a young Asiago, with flavors of butter, grass and citrus notes with a mild lactic tang.
Cowgirl Sea Salt and Olive Oil Crackers Rustic Bakery • Petaluma, California These crispy organic flatbread crackers are baked locally especially for Cowgirl Creamery, and make the perfect edible platform for all cheese.
